GCC '09 Homecoming is going
'Into the Wild' to celebrate pride

Homecoming 2009 is being celebrated at Glendale Community College (GCC) with a weeklong series of events that take students, faculty, staff and others "Into the Wild!" to celebrate Gaucho Pride.

Associated Student Government (ASG) and the GCC Alumni Association are co-sponsoring the activities that conclude at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, when the GCC Gauchos host the Mesa Thunderbirds in the annual homecoming football game.

Leading up to the gridiron contest are a series of fun "Into the Wild!" events scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout Homecoming Week on the Central Mall of GCC's main campus:

Monday, Oct. 12
•"Growl your heart out!" karaoke, hosted by Sigma Chi Eta
•Mural chalk painting, hosted by GCC art students
•Wild face painting, hosted by Alumni
Tuesday, Oct. 13
•"On the Wild Side" dance-off, hosted by Black Student Union
•Donkey Kong Contest, hosted by Phi Theta Kappa
Wednesday, Oct. 14
•"Don't feed the teachers" pie-throwing contest, hosted by the Environmental Club to benefit the ASG Scholarship (Cost $1)
"Into the wild!" decorating contest, hosted by Alumni
Thursday, Oct. 15
•"Who has the fiercest style?" fashion show, hosted by Compass
•Fashion break, hosted by Delta Psi Omega
Friday, Oct. 16
•"Unleash your inner animal" rock wall, hosted by ASG
•"Let out your wild spirit" pep rally and meet the Gaucho football players
•Pizza feast for players, students and alumni
Saturday, Oct. 17
•Gaucho spirit hair (hair painting)
•Savage face painting
•Fireworks
•Free poms poms
