Leadership, information
advancing HLC self study

Several key assignments have been determined as the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) self-study process advances in preparation for the HLC accreditation review of Glendale Community College (GCC) during the 2011-'12 academic year.

Librarians Frank Torres and Ed McKennon are the newest HLC Committee members and have agreed to head the Resource Room Committee. Additionally, Trish Vogel, director of Institutional Advancement, and K.C. Hundere, director of Information Technology, will lead the Hospitality Committee while Charles Jeffery, dean of Institutional Planning, will head the Response to HLC-2000 Committee. Librarian Christine Moore will be the master writer for the self-study report.

Two additional HLC Information Sessions this semester will follow the highly successful initial session in mid-September when Regis Della-Calce, director of College Business Services, provided an overview of GCC budgets. She urged the audience to think strategically about budgets both in terms of the GCC Strategic Plan and the ongoing self study. The two remaining HLC Information Sessions will feature June Fessenden, manager of College Employees Services, presenting on hiring processes and diversity and Charles Jeffery, dean of Institutional Planning, discussing campus. Fessenden will speak from2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, while Jeffery's presentation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20. Both sessions are scheduled in SU104D&E.
