Overview
In an effort to reduce costs and waste, the HTC’s will be implementing a Pay for Print solution in the open labs, where students will be able to use their student ID cards to release print jobs that they have placed into a holding queue to print. During the late Spring and Summer 2009 semesters, College Technology Services and the Fiscal office will be working together to structure Phase I of a pay for print solution for students in the open labs. Rollout for Phase I is scheduled for the beginning of the Fall 2009 semester.

Archived Project Status:
In Late May 2009 the team met with IKON to discuss adding a pay for print solution to the current Copy services. The team learned that we already own the background components required for the IKON pay for print solution, which was purchased as part of our IKON copy services solution at the GCN campus.
During the month of May 2009, IKON delivered price quotes for a solution - the decision to move forward with IKON as a provider was made.

During the month of June 2009, the system was fully vetted by the team - delivering recommendations to faculty and administration.
Sep. 14 2009- IKON began the installation of the required hardware and software. Selected staff received training on the operation of the equipment.
Sep. 21 2009- Students began using the new system, but were not yet charged for printing. This served to test the system and to familiarize the students with the new printing procedures.
Oct. 6 2009 - The new GCC Pay for Print system is fully operational.
