What IS Itunes U?

Well, first of all, iTunes is a digital jukebox and digital media player application. It's an online store making available audio and media files for purchase and for free (for listening online or for downloading for personal use). iTunes U is basically the same format but for colleges and universities to make available files created for free educational use.

How do I log into iTunes U?

eGCC users: Navigate to the eGCC iTunes U main page, http://itunes.gccaz.edu. Click the Login to eGCC iTunes U button. Login using your eGCC username and password.

Guests: Navigate to the eGCC iTunes U main page, http://itunes.gccaz.edu and click the Guest Access to eGCC iTunes U button.

What do I need to use iTunes U?

System Requirements: Windows or MAC computer with iTunes installed.

eGCC Requirements: You will need your eGCC username and password. If you have not changed your password from its default setting, please change your password at https://genesis.gc.maricopa.edu/password

What is the recommended browser?

Internet Explorer 6 or later OR Safari 2.0 or later are "Apple recommended" browsers.

I am a faculty/staff member and want my own iTunes U site and; how do I get help?

Contact the Helpdesk either by telephone at 623.845.3555 or by email at helpdesk@gcmail.maricopa.edu and let them know you are requesting a site on iTunes U. A workorder will be generated and the eGCC iTunes U administrator will contact you to access your site needs and will then make a recommendation. Once your site is created, the administrator will provide basic usage suggestions and referrals to additional help resources.

I am a student and need help, where can I get help?

  • After you log into iTunes U you will notice many help resources including online video tutorials.
  • If you are unable to login, please contact the GCC helpdesk either by telephone at 623.845.3555 or by email at studenthelpdesk@student.gc.maricopa.edu . Tip: If you have not changed your password from its default setting, please change your password at https://genesis.gc.maricopa.edu/password and try to login again.

Can a student post content to iTunes U?

Yes and No. If you instructor, club advisor, or a staff member has given you access to post content as part of you coursework, yes; you can post content to his/her site. Only site owners (faculty and staff) can post content to eGCC iTunes U or grant permission for others to post to sites within iTunes U.

What file types can I post on iTunes U?

Apple recommends the following file format for you iTunes U audio and video contents.

  • Audio files – .m4a or .mp3.
  • Video files – mp4, .m4v, and .mov.
  • You can also use iTunes U to distributed .pdf files.

Why can't I find eGCC iTunes U at the regular iTunes U site?

Glendale College/eGCC iTunes U is not listed on Apple's iTunes U web pages. Please access eGCC iTunes U at http://www.gccaz.edu/iTunes/?id=13168.
