A Description of the Innovation
How the Public and Campus Community Access WebScribe
WebScribe sites look and operate like other web sites available to the public, with no system requirements beyond normal web browsing. The sites always include a standard display of college identity and contact information, an automated site credits page, and automatically generated menus of links that make all published content on the site navigable from any one page. WebScribe delivers pages to the user in conventional HTML without uses of JavaScript, Java, plug-ins, or other program features that can present accessibility barriers to some disabled or disadvantaged users of the Internet.
Some of the widely read WebScribe sites at GCC include the employee bulletin Gaucho Gazette (http://www.gc.maricopa.edu/gaucho), the student newspaper The Voice (http://www.gc.maricopa.edu/voiceonline), President's Advisory Committee (http://www.gc.maricopa.edu/pac), and College Technology Committee (http://www.gc.maricopa.edu/ctc).
