ADVANCED OFFICER TRAINING (LEO)
The Glendale Community College is pleased to offer classes that allows officers to develop thier career paths while furthering thier education. The classes offered have been approved as to form for AzPOST continuing of proficiency training credits and carry AzPOST certifications where applicable. Classes include such things as AzPOST Firearm Instructor, AzPOST High Risk Stop Instuctor, Criminal Investigator Certification (also know as 'Detective School'), as well as tactical handgun, shotgun and rifle courses. LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING ACADEMY(LETA) is ceritfied by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (Azpost). Because it is an extended academy program lasting two semesters, persons appointed to a Reserve Officer position are normally in attendance. The program is a challenging and very demanding curriculum, requiring physical and intellectual stamina. However, the certification attained allows successful participants to enter an exciting and rewarding career. Minimum qualifications to be a peace officer in Arizona are detailed in the AzPOST Rules and Regulations. (See R13-4-105).

Individuals interested in the program can only register or attend if they have participated in the selection process of a qualified agency and have been appointed to a Reserve Police Officer position or are participating in the open enrollment program. Those interested will need to contact the agency they are interested in and inquire as to how to make an application for the position of Reserve Office or begin the Open Enrollment Process to become qualified. The Academy has trained officers for the following agencies:

  • Arizona Dept. of Public Safety
  • Maricopa County Sheriff's Office

FIREARMS COURSES The college presents 7 firearms classes specifically designed for the general public.The college presents 7 firearms classes specifically designed for the general public. Classes are 1 credit hour (excluding AJS158). Cost is $55 per credit hour, all have lab fees which are listed on their web page. See web site for more information.
