Firearms III (AJS154)

Firearms III

Firearms III is a survey class, meaning that it is not skill building and is meant to familiarize the student with a variety of shoulder fired weapons and how they are used in law enforcement. Students will have a chance to fire most weapons, however a restricted number of rounds will be fired through some more exotic firearms and students at random will be selected to fire those. Class is held at the range with no formal classroom sessions.

The class usually starts with 8 hours of shotgun training. The following 8 hour day the class is introduced to carbines, semiautomatic rifles, submachine guns and bolt action rifles.

Cost: The class is 1 credit hour and there is a $35 lab fee to pay for range fees, supplies and targets. If you are not registered for a class at GCC, there is also a $15 registration fee.

What firearm may I use: Most weapons will be supplied, but students are encouraged to bring their own weapons and use them in class.

Eye protection, ear protection (school has some available if needed), cap with a bill to protect the face
