Program Description: For this program students complete the prerequisite freshman/sophomore (100/200 level) courses at Glendale Community College, and the junior/senior (300/400 level) at ASU West. This program is not designed for immediate job placement, or for RN license at the end of two years. Upon graduation from ASU students are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing examination. Successful completion of this exam enables the graduate to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN). Each nursing major should consult with GCC/ASU West campus nursing advisors to work out the transfer program.

The completion of the four year curriculum in nursing leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. The purpose of the program is to prepare beginning professional nurses who possess the theoretical foundation and the clinical competence to function in various health care settings. The graduate is prepared to deliver nursing care services to individuals, groups, and communities. The program objectives are directed toward preparation of graduates with generalist abilities.

Admission to the professional nursing program courses is highly competitive. Preference is given to students with the highest prerequisite GPAs. Enrollment in and satisfactory completion of NUR 119 and NUR 211 does not assure admission to the professional nursing program courses of NUR 204, 214, 217 and 223.
