Pre-Forestry

Transfer Recommendations: This is a suggested curriculum for the first two years of preparation for entering a forestry program. The School of Forestry at NAU has approved this program and accepts this program in place of the first two years of its forestry program. The University will accept any combination of eight credits or more from agriculture courses at Glendale Community College as substitutes for the forestry courses required during the freshman and sophomore years.

  ECN 111 Macroeconomic Principles 3
  ECN 112 Microeconomic Principles 3
+ENG 111 Technical Writing 3
  GLG 101 Introduction to Geology I - Physical Lecture 3
  GLG 103 Introduction to Geology I - Physical Lab 1
+MAT 187 College Algebra and Trigonometry (5) OR
+MAT 152 College Algebra (3) AND
+MAT 182 Plane Trigonometry (3) 5-6
+PSY 230 Introduction to Statistics 3
NAU Pre-Forestry requirements for freshmen and sophomores in forestry courses can be met by 8 credits or more from the following courses:
  AGS 260 Origin and Composition of Soils (4)
  AGS 264 Irrigation and Water Management (3)
  AGS 266 Agricultural Entomology (3)
  AGS 267 Weeds and Plant Diseases of Arizona (3)
General Studies Recommendations:
The following course is required at NAU for Pre-Forestry students, and also is included within the General Studies core requirements for Oral Communication for the AA degree.
  COM 100 Introduction to Human Communication
(required at NAU) (3)
Note: Under the provisions of the new NAU Liberal Studies requirements, 3 credits of electives from the Social and Behavioral Sciences block, 3 credits from the Creative Arts block, and 3 credits from the Letters block should be taken for a total of 9 Liberal Studies credits.
