Program Description: Advanced techniques of emergency care, stabilization, and immobilization of victims of illness and injury. Recognition and documentation of signs and symptoms of illness and injury, intervention, and evaluation of the symptoms of illness and injury, intervention, and evaluation of the intervention. Techniques for assessment, administration of oxygen and medications approved by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Office of Emergency Medical Services, advanced airway techniques, peripheral intravenous techniques, use of specific immobilization cevices, and preparation for transportation.
Students must be advised and counseled in the Emergency Medical Technology/Fire Science Department office prior to making application to the program.
Program Prerequisites: (3 credits) Credits
Basic EMT Certification
Grade of "C" or better in:
  CRE 101 Critical and Evaluative Reading I (3) OR
  CRE 111 Critical Reading for Business and Industry (3) 3
Required Courses: (26 credits) Credits
Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in each Required Course with a GPA of 2.5 for all Required Courses.
  EMT/FSC  112 Public Safety Emergency Telecommunications 3
+EMT 140 Pharmacology in an Emergency Setting 3
+EMT 208 Intermediate Emergency Medical Technology 15
