Teaching Style (All MATxxx Except MAT142)
Classroom Interactive lecture. Students participate by verbally interacting often with the teacher as well as occasionally coming to the board
Homework Weekly online homework using MyMathLab. Students must have access to a computer with internet. Students will use an online software to complete homework on a weekly basis
Testing -
Grading Weekly quizzes of different varieties, some online, some in class, and some take home. All quizzes are closed book, closed note, no graphing calculator allowed.
Exams: Usually 3-5 in class exams throughout the semester as well as a cumulative final. All exams are closed book, closed note, no graphing calculator allowed.
Textbook -
Calculators recommended graphing calculator no less than TI 83/84. The graphing calculator will be used occasionally in class to help explore topics, find solutions, and check answers. The calculator will be a great help for some of the answers for your MyMathLab homework. Although the graphing calculator is recommended, graphing calculators will not be permitted during in class quizzes and exams. You may also want to purchase a cheap non-graphing calculator as they will be permitted during in class quizzes and exams. Cell phones cannot be used as calculators.
