Preparing for Math Placement Tests

Before taking any of the Math placement tests, it is strongly recommended that you first spend some time preparing for the test.  The following links contain problems (and answers) that are similar to the types of questions that are on the placement tests.  The placement tests are different than these practice tests.

One way to prepare is to print out one of the following PDF files for the appropriate test.

Each of these files contains many multiple choice questions, together with an answer key at the end.  You need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in installed with your web browser.  This is installed on all of the computers at Glendale Community College.

Another way to prepare is to take the Online Course Placement Test at http://gquiz.gc.maricopa.edu/qm_asset/perception.dll?name=student
When you enter that site, you should select the appropriate test that you wish to take (Numerical Skills, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra or College Algebra).  The Online Test is timed, thus you may not finish all of the questions.  This Online Test contains fewer problems than the tests in the PDF files mentioned above.  When you finish the Online test, you can observe the correct answers and it will give you an indication of which Math class you would be placed in.  Please note that this is only an indication based upon this sample practice test.  This is not the placement test.
