Dr. Ernesto Escobedo is a residential
mathematics instructor at Glendale Community College. He enjoys working
with his colleagues in a cross-disciplinary faculty team who participate
in the Multiple Intelligences/Learning for Understanding (MI/LfU) program.
He earned his mathematics degree at the University of Arizona and completed
his doctorate at Harvard in 1989. Specializing in academic assessment
and evaluation of academic programs, Dr. Escobedo served as a consultant
to the Bolivian government in 1998 in order help this nation improve their
universities and schools. Dr. Escobedo has been involved with Multiple
Intelligences/Learning for Understanding for the last four years.
On March 23, 2000, presented at the Systemic Reform in Science (SyRIS)
Project and the Maricopa Center for Learning (MCLI) in order to influence
teachers in the public schools to incorporate MI/LfU in math instruction.
In March 2003, he participated in the Learning Summit, a national conference
on teaching and learning, sponsored by the League of Innovation. Students
line up to take his classes as he is highly sought after for his
compassionate, caring attitude toward students, and his ability to make
math "fun."
