I am pleased to announce that Dr. Velvie Green, currently Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Rapids, Michigan, has accepted my offer of the President's position at Glendale Community College, subject to approval by the Governing Board.
Dr. Green has her Ph.D. from the Higher, Adult, Lifelong Education (H.A.L.E.) Program, Michigan State University with a Master's Degree and Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University in Business Education and Business Administration. Dr. Green taught full-time for five years in the Grand Rapids Public Schools and for over 15 years at Grand Rapids Community College before moving into positions such as department chair and other administrative spots at the College in the School of Workforce Development and her current position as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. She also serves as a consultant-evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.
Dr. Green will begin her duties at GCC by August 1.
