Meet the Geography faculty—a world of experience:
As geographers, we have all traveled widely, and we bring our experiences to our classes.
Steve Emrick—a native Arizonan. Steve is a physical
geographer whose specialty is biogeography.
Steve received his MA in Geography from the University of Arizona in 1985. A faculty member since 1997, Steve teaches both physical and cultural geography and regularly teaches Arizona
Geography.
Lynn Newman—a native of Minnesota, Lynn is a Physical Geographer whose specialities include Meteorology,
Climatology, and Statistics. Lynn received her MA in Geography from the University of Minnesota in 1992 and is currently working on her Ph.D at Arizona State University. Lynn's extracurricular interests include traveling, scuba diving and amateur radio. A faculty member since 2000, Lynn teaches GPH 111 (Physical Geography) and also teaches Meteorology (GPH 212 & GPH 214). In addition, she also maintains the campus weather station. Alan Gaugert—a native of Minnesota, Alan is an adjunct faculty member who has taught
Physical Geography and both hemispheres of World Geography. Alan received his Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota and his Masters from Vanderbilt. He took a time out from teaching to spend 21 years in the Air Force - gaining personal knowledge of different cultures and landscapes. Alan is very interested in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and is working to bring this program to GCC.
Paul Geale—a Brit who immigrated in 1954. Paul is an adjunct faculty member who teaches both hemispheres of World
Geography and Physical Geography. Paul received his MA in Geography from California State University-Los Angeles. A successful banker and textbook publisher, Paul brings a wealth of experience and travel lore to every class.
