Have you ever wanted to create your own short video on a subject for your classroom? Do you want to use photographs or art prints set to music and possibly narration to present a topic in class or during a professional presentation? Do you want to assign a video creation to your students as a project for a history class, English, art or even math class?Do you want to tell the story of your grandson's first year, your parent's 80 years or a friend's accomplishments?

On Jan. 27 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., we will offer a 90-minute seminar on how you can incorporate digital storytelling into your classroom or for personal or research use. We should be in our new room by then, HT2-125. Digital Storytelling is the use of photographs, video, music and narration to create a short video story. It's easy to do once you learn how to use the tools. A future February workshop where participants will create digital stories will be offered to seminar participants if there is an interest. See the details under "When" for more information.

The presenters are Julie Knapp and Bonnie Loss.

Julie has been making digital stories for eight years and teaching the craft through seminars and college classes for seven years. She is a member of the international Digital Storytelling Association and served as an education representative for two years. She will present samples of academic and personal digital stories. Currently, she teaches a photo editing class at GCC that includes a digital story in documentary form.

Bonnie is a faculty member in the art department and teaches personal digital storytelling in her classes. She has spearheaded GCC's introduction to digitial storytelling for several years.

There will be time for questions and discussions, so bring your questions and ideas!
