Publicity & Marketing Information

In developing an image for Glendale Community College through printed media, it is necessary to represent the college through a consistent, quality, and uniform visual image. The following are offered as guidelines to help achieve this goal.

GCC AND MCCD LOGO
The official college logo should appear on all brochures, posters, and materials that you print. The official font is Goth PJM and was custom - designed by one of our faculty. The name of the college should appear stacked in three lines in the official font in all uppercase letters. The District also recommends its "M" logo be used in the lower left - hand corner of any document.

LETTERHEAD
If you would like to create letterhead for your student club or organization, you may create your own and have it approved by the Dean of Student Life.

OUR MASCOT
The college mascot is the Gaucho, the Argentine Cowboy of the Pampas.

SCHOOL COLORS
The official colors of GCC are scarlet, black, and white.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT
It is the policy of Maricopa to promote equal employment opportunities through a positive continuing program. This means that Maricopa will not discriminate, nor tolerate discrimination, against any applicant or employee because of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disabled, or veteran status. Additionally, it is the policy of Maricopa to provide an environment for each Maricopa job applicant and employee that is free from sexual harassment, as well as harassment and intimidation on account of an individual's race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.

Posters

Designing Tips
Posters As much as possible, posters should be colorful and bold. A logo or design, or even a "character" designed specifically for your program, are all good to include on posters. Try not
to include too much printed information, however. Keep the message brief and to the point. Always make sure that you include dates and an address and phone number for further information.

Newspaper Ads
Often your posters can serve as newspaper ads. In any ad, however, you will want to include more printed information than you would on a poster. Make sure to be clear about dates, times and locations, and don't forget to include your design, logo or character. Again, remember to give a phone number to contact for further information.

Flyers
One page or smaller, even business card size, promotional flyers can be distributed by hand, mailed, placed in a convenient location for individuals to pick up, posted, or used like a poster (they are a very versatile item). Flyers should contain more printed information than either a poster or an ad, since people can take them along and read them later.

Web Pages
Get with the program and hit the web!  More and more information is being accessed online by more and more students.  Reach a whole new audience and promote your organization and activities by web.
