Computer Dial-in Access to GCC
Dialup Number: 435-3444 (type *70 before the number to
disable call waiting)
There are 24 dedicated modems and another 24 modems in use
from 6 PM to 6 AM to access the VAX from off-campus.
Software settings:
- 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity
- 300 to 14400 baud
- V.32bis
- V.42 (LAPM) or MNP 2-4 error control at 1200 baud and
above
- V.42bis or MNPS compression
- throughput of up to 57600 bps (terminal servers only
support up to 19200)
- terminal emulation of VT100 or VT102
- flow control: X-ON/X-OFF
A few moments after your modem connects you will see the
welcome screen and menu; type GC to select the VAX.
- At the "Username" prompt, proceed with the
normal VAX login procedure.
- Once connected, you may use the VAX as you normally would
from on campus.
- When you are finished using the VAX and logout, you will
get the welcome screen again. When you logout from that
display, the modem will hang up.
