GCC Briefs The Governing Board of the Maricopa Community College District has postponed selecting a new chancellor to lead the 10-college system. Meanwhile, the five-person, elected governing board will appoint an interim -chancellor to serve for one year, beginning July 1. 1999.Board members expect to announce the interim -chancellor at the Tuesday, March 23 meeting. The public meeting of the Governing Board will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the colleges’ district offices, 2411 W. 14th St., Tempe. Noted author Harlan Ellison is scheduled to speak in the Student Lounge, located in the Student Union, about“Cat Strangling and Other Amusements.” The event will be held at 11 a.m. on March 10 and is courtesy of the Maricopa County District’s LodeStar program.
