Do you love me? Prove it.

The Valentines before my eighth birthday my mother gave me a card that said how special I am to her. I found the card the other day and started thinking about Valentines Day.

People quite often take for granted the meaning behind Valentines. It is not just a day for giving candy and little stuffed bears. Valentines represents love, caring, friendship, happiness and making people feel special.

The card my mother gave to me is only one of the many times that she has made me feel important. Everyday people should and often do make others feel special. It is really important for people to know that they are needed and loved. Valentines is a reason to share with someone that you care for them.

However, our culture has made Valentines into a romantic occasion as well.

On that note, I expect perfection.

My ideal Valentines would consist of the perfect flowers, the perfect date, and the perfect atmosphere, which would somehow include candlelight and a whole lot of romance. Maybe I expect a little much, but hey a girl must have her standards.
