Padres bring in Brooks to mend their broken fences

By now anyone whos anyone has heard about Garth Brooks and his recent spring training appearance.
Some are pleased with this country stars sudden interest in professisonal baseball, while others are not.
To those of you who are upset about this I just have one question for you: What the heck for?
What wrong could he possibly be doing? All Brooks is doing is good.
Think about what he is doing for the city of Peoria. Country fans from all corners of the state are sure to increase ticket sales and numbers of people coming to the spring training site.
Maybe that is just what the Padres wanted or shall we say needed to accomplish. Considering that many big name players were lost due to free agency which made the fans all but happy.
Granted whether the Padres underlying meaning for Brooks presence was to merely regain fan support or not, the positives easily more than outweigh the negetives (if there are any).
More importantly, Brooks main cause seems to be to raise money for charity.
Glendale Community College student Miguel Aviña thinks everyone is making a big deal out of nothing.
I think that everyone should give the guy a break. If he wants to play ball, let him play ball, Aviña said. Hes even giving the money to charity, so let it be.
After all, its not very common that a country star would trade in his cowboy boots for a pair of baseball spikes.
Its not everyday that big name stars offer their salary to charity.
If anything, fans should be grateful to have such a giving and caring country star such as Garth Brooks.
Garth, if its any consolation, Hey, you cant please them all.
But heres one who is pleased. |
