Plus/Delta: Attendee Evaluations

Those who attended WebDev 2000 in person contributed these evaluations via e-mail after this report was published on-line. The "Plus" column is for aspects of the program perceived as successful or worth imitation -- or any kind words in general. The "Delta" column is for whatever is perceived as not going well or coming up short, or any opportunities for improvement.

PLUS
  • I found the conference to be very informative and thought provoking. I look forward to attending next year's conference...
  • WebDev2000 was well organized as well as educational. The content was all very worthwhile!
  • I liked the format. The point-counterpoint helped me think through the issues.
  • I really liked the web site, especially how it's developing now.
  • Quality of discussion.
  • Keynote speech.
  • Seeing what other colleges are doing & talking shop.
  • Posters for presenters were a nice touch -- Thanks.
  • Event web site exceeded expectations.
  • Reporting out on the discussions is a great idea -- and to be able to go back to them on the web site makes me know that this was time well spent. It will be useful to go back to these when I need to brainstorm on these issues. What might also be useful is to post what actions that the district or colleges have taken as a result of these discussions.
  • The argument / discussion format about issues in web management was interactive and thought-provoking; an excellent choice rather than the old presentation format that bores participants to tears.
  • Web site presentation is a valuable tool for continued learning -- I've already recommended it to a colleague who didn't attend.
  • Move to administrative/policy focus. Most technologists do a good job of exchanging information electronically. The open forum/debate format was great for exploring admin issues. Even at the recent League Technology conference the accent was on new toys. Thanks for exploring the issues that are becoming vital as the Web moves from plaything to utility.
  • Debate was great -- really allowed one to see both sides of the issue.
  • Topics were timely -- these are the issues we are dealing with on our campus.
  • Break out sessions were informative -- it was good to see what other people around the district are doing. I really appreciated the willingness to share.
  • The web site presented before the event was well organized and informative. The web site that compiled the days' sharing was easy to navigate and seemed to capture what happened that day.
  • Great Job!

DELTA
  • I would like to see something like this on a more frequent basis than once a year. Having all of the web people from the district together would be very beneficial. A longer conference, like 2-3 days with emphasis on various issues during those days would be great.
  • It would be encouraging to see more executives, board members, etc. in attendance for events like this so that they could learn what's going on before making decisions that affect how Maricopa uses the Internet.
  • I wish we'd had more participation from all campuses.
  • Internet connection was slow -- caused problems [referring to presentations].
  • Needed more time to set up presentation.
  • Unknown if my presentation was useful & worthwhile for others -- will ask for feedback / follow-up next time.
  • More and varied participation in the Hard Hat area -- there must be other innovations out there!
  • For some of the debate topics, my group could have used a little more time to discuss the issues.
