Speaker: Dr. Jan Northup

Topic: The Promotable Woman - Have we come a long way, Baby?

Explore the factors that make the difference in the lives of successful women. Research findings as well as the skills, attitudes and behaviors required for achieving equity wil be discussed. This session should particularly benefit those who plan on advancing in their current competencies as well as those who want to find a mentor who can guide them to their ideal job!

Committees

Advocacy/Community Service
Goals: Represent the interests of all GCC women, be advocates to ensure campus policies serve women’s diverse needs and encourage community service in support of women’s issues such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in October 14, 2007!

Membership/Hospitality/Communication
Goals: Increase GCC WLG membership, welcome new employees and develop communication channels, including the GCC WLG web site, that will expand, promote and support cooperation and collaboration between GCC WLG and other groups.

Networking/Social/Partnerships
Goals: Promote meaningful networking and social opportunities for GCC women, host social events and promote partnerships with other campus groups that further the interests of women.

Personal/Professional Development
Goals: Sponsor learning and mentoring opportunities to enable GCC women to promote their personal development, improve skills and advance their careers.

Scholarship/Fundraising
Goals: Raise funds for GCC WLG activities and scholarships.

Women’s History Month Luncheon
Goals: Coordinate the annual Women’s History Month Luncheon.
